Library thanks
The Buena Vista Public Library annual Book Sale was held on Saturday, July 10, and it is my pleasure to report that we received $4,040 from the sale of the books, videos and audio books donated to the library throughout the year. As always, the funds will be used to add new materials to the library's collection.

I would like to thank the members of the community, first of all for the donated materials. Each year, almost all of the items in the sale are donated. This fun event would not be possible without the support and donations from each of you. And then many of these same community members attend the sale and buy books. From time to time, someone mentions that they did indeed purchase back one of the books they donated. But that is part of the fun, I think.

I would like to thank the Buena Vista school district, and Bob Marken, for letting us use the high school cafeteria, as we organized, and held the sale. Thank you also to the officers of the Buena Vista Correctional Complex work project, for scheduling our project into their busy summer. The work crew helped to load the books from the library, and deliver them to the cafeteria.

Marilyn Lacy, of RE/MAX Reality, and Dallas Campbell, of Century 21 Realtors, let us put our sandwich board signs on their property, as we "got the word out" prior to the sale.

And finally, I again would like to thank the volunteers who helped sort and organize the items for the sale. I heard a few new jokes about librarians, and many hands make the sorting so much easier and faster. Many of these same volunteers were there on Saturday to help as our community and visitors browsed, made selections, and paid for their items.

We appreciate, and accept, donations throughout the year. The many readers in our community are who make this annual event a successful, and fun event for all.
